OFF - Landscapes With Sunset
2011, series of photographs
OFF - Landscapes With Sunset is a series of b/w photographs laminated on wooden (MDF) supports in different sizes. I took pictures of old TV sets while they were turned off. Using a flash, the glass of the screen reflected and made a glare effect similar to small-format landscapes of sunsets.
This work was shown as an installation in 2011 and in 2016 I made an artist book that included both single images and installation views. The introduction included two visual quotes, one at the beginning (sunsets from romantic painting) and one at the end (TV test pattern).
In 2022 I made a site-specific installation at Miart Art Fair called We Apologize For The Inconvenience that played with the illusion of an exhibition space. Along with other elements, I used the images from the series Sunsets for a large print covering the facade of the booth, which was made to appear under construction.
