32 billboards, each 187 x 377 cm
Berlin Alexanderplatz metro station
October 25, 2007 - February 29, 2008

The starting point of this work was It Was Me. Diary 1900–1999, where I narrated the history of the 20th century in first person. For this work, I made a “local” version of the history of Berlin Alexanderplatz. Using 32 billboards in the U2 Alexanderplatz subway station, I told two centuries of Berlin history. To describe real events which took place around Alexanderplatz, I chose 32 historical moments from 1805 (when the square changed its name to Alexanderplatz) until the present/2007.
Written in typewriter font and in the first-person singular, the chronicle resembles a private diary where I play the perpetrator of the events.
