Fotoleinen
1996
Series, analogue print on canvas, 20 x 30 cm - 24 x 34 cm

The 28-part series Fotoleinen is a selection from news images that I photographed in black and white and printed on "Fotoleinen" (this was the name of the material, like a canvas for photographs, that was prepped and could be developed in the darkroom; by the company ORWO). The photos on Fotoleinen/canvas were then stretched on wooden frames. I selected the images from my news clipping archive and recycled them as pictures for the series. Most motifs reproduce events of violence and of history.

A motif from the series Fotoleinen was enlarged as a site-specific, xerox copy and applied directly to the wall for the exhibition “(O.m.U.)” at NBK - Neuer Berliner Kunstverein.
